HIGH PH LEVEL IS MAINTAINED BECAUSE THE FEED WATER MAY
CONTAIN SOME SALT FORMING CHEMICALS. BY MAINTAINING HIGH PH
IT WILL CONVERT THAT SALTS INTO SOME SLAGS THIS WILL BE
REMOVED THROUGH CENTRAL BLOW DOWN LINE IN THE DRUM.

Answer / surya
Alkalinity measures the ability of a solution to neutralize acids to the equivalence point of carbonate or bicarbonate. This is the main reason we are maintaining PH at higher side rather than near the margin (<7 is acid). so that it provide optimum corrosion control and also provides sufficient alkalinity to avoid the precipitation of any residual scale forming compounds.
