In Turbine how the balence piston works and what is the
direction of leak of steam flow.
Answer / Rohit Dikshit
The balance piston in a turbine helps to equalize the pressure on each side of the moving parts. It works by redirecting the excess pressure from one side to another, maintaining balance and reducing vibration. Regarding the direction of steam flow, it flows from high-pressure areas (such as the boiler) towards low-pressure areas (like the condenser). However, in terms of leaks, it is not common for steam to leak through the balance piston itself, but instead, leaks might occur at other components like valves or seals.
