Subcooling - in the system condenser, conversion of vapor to
liquid involves removing heat from the refrigerant at its
saturation condensing temperature...any additional
temprature decrease is called
subcooling.
superheat - in the system evaporator, conversion of liquid
to vapor involves adding heat to the liquid at is boiling
temperature,commonly to as saturation temperature..

Sensible cooling below saturation liquid condition at that
pressure and temperature is sub-cooling & sensible heating
beyond saturation vapour condition at that pressure and
temperature is super-heating.

Answer / fowzel
sub cooling means cooling at pre state and super heating means
heating beyond critical temperature
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 6 Yes | 9 No |
Answer / rajasimha
Sub cooling is Cooling below the required temperature where
as super heating is heating above the required temperature.
Eg.
If a liquid has to be cooled to -10 degree Celsius but it is
cooled to -20 degree Celsius then it is sub cooling.
If a gas has to be heated to 100 degree Celsius but it is
heated to 110 degree Celsius them it is super heating.
Super heating generally increases efficiency ( Steam power
plants) but sub cooling is not generally not desired

In Rankine cycle there is a concept of Tm(mean temp of heat addition)For calculating the efficiency of the cycle we generally use n=1-T2/T1 again Tm taking into consideration we get n=1-T2/Tm as T1>Tm so he efficiency will be different for same cycle. Can anybody explain how is it possible? advance appriciation for your effort
