Tapping is privided in the transformer to get the desired
voltage in step.
Generally Primery is used for tapping because usually High
voltage winding is wound on the outer side so that it is
easy to take the tapping on the top of the transformer.

In online tapping, you may change the tapping when the
transformer is working, and in a off line tapping,you have
to shutdown power to the transformer when tapping is changed.

Tapping always provide in HV side .in xmer online means its automatic raise and down button on tap changer control panel and in off line tap change its physically tap change

and the tapping is provided in secondary side only
