what is the minimum and maximam trace width in PCB design? why trace is measured in mils? what is ..

Answer / Sujeet Kumar

1. The minimum and maximum trace width in PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design depend on various factors, such as current carrying capacity, voltage drop, thermal management, and signal integrity:nn- Minimum trace width: Typically, the minimum trace width is 0.2 millimeters (mm) or 20 mils for general copper traces.n- Maximum trace width: There is no absolute maximum trace width, but it should be kept as small as possible to conserve space on the PCB.n
2. Traces are measured in mils because this unit of measurement provides precise, consistent dimensions when working with very small components on a PCB.n
3. Vias (vertical interconnect access) are used in PCB design to connect layers that are not directly adjacent. They help improve the density and reliability of the circuit board.n
4. Crystal oscillators are often placed near chips because this placement ensures stable frequency operation by minimizing stray capacitance and inductance, which can affect the accuracy of the crystal oscillator's output.
