Servo motors are used for testing faulty conditions as they
rotates only when an error signal comes to its control winding.
when an error(deviation from a rated speed) occurs in the
system, the control winding which is placed 90 degree to the
main winding generates a reverse torque hence regulating the
speed.

What will happen if the rotor circuit of a slipring I.M. is kept open & electric supply is given to its stator winding.
