Why water is not directly added to sulphuric acid for
dilution?

Answer / hari
H2SO4 is acid , when water is added to the acid it will
produce high energy , it is in the form of heat.So from this
we could not add water directly, we have to add it slowly
then we will neutralize the heat.

Sulphuric acid has hydroscopic (Affinity towards water)
property. When we add water to acid due to hydroscopic
property it may suddenly comes out & may cause burning.
While mixing water & sulphuric acid we should always add
acid in water (with glass rod) & not to add water in acid.
Heat is genrated called as heat of neuterization which has
no relation with the addition

Answer / gopesh
Actually when water is added to sulphuric acid, a huge
amount of heat generates liable to crack the beaker
this is why when we need to dilute H2SO4 we take water in
a beaker and add acid slowly so that heat generation is
slow .

Answer / harsh
Since, acid is more viscous than water if we add water to
acid mixing will not be proper & thereby heat dissipation
becomes difficult. The added water takes away the
dissipated heat rapidly forming steam & creating a Flashing
or Explosion. Therefore water shouldn't be added to acid
and acid should be added to water for the dilution purpose.

Answer / sania
because on dilution of acid more amount of heat generate
which is harmful for human so water is not directly added to
acid

Answer / murthy
if water is added directly into large amount of H2so4, due
to heat of misibility water is vaporized, water required to
dilute greatly increases approximately 15-20 times .that is
why H2so4 is added to water and water is not added to h2so4.

Answer / sanjay kumar it-bhu
H2SO4 is highly acidic , when water is added to the acid it
will produce high quantiy of energy , it becomes violent
condition means break the beaker. So its dangerous for humen
so there should not be add water directly, we have to add
it slowly in dropwise manner then we will neutralize the
heat.

because it is very concentrated so that for concentration
water is not directly used

QUANTUM BIOLOGY - EXAMPLE 33.2 : (a) In a biomolecule, ATP hydrolysis will produce 3 kcal / mol to 60 kcal / mol of energy, according to energy scale. Find the range of such energy generation if 2 moles of molecules involved. (b) A formula is given by ln P = ln a + b ln W where P = metabolic rate, W = body size, a = dependent of taxa, b = scaling exponent. If b is approximately 1 for plant, and b is approximately 0.75 for animal, find the relationship of P as a function of a and W in plant.
ENGINEERING ECONOMY - EXAMPLE 7.3 : There are 2 alternatives of investment. Choice 1 : A trader offers you an investment opportunity where your investment of A$15000 presently will be A$18000 after 4 years. Choice 2 : A bank offers you 5 % annual return for your initial investment of A$15000. Question a : What is the equivalent bank payment after 4 years? Question b : By using the concept of equivalence in engineering economy, which is the better choice, between 1 and 2, that will be more profitable after 4 years?
