valve?

Answer / shubhankar suman
1. Relief valve opening is directly proportional to the
pressure rise.
Safety valve opening will happen at after reaching the set
pressure.
2. Safety valve can be operated manually with use of easing
gear (as in boilers) whereas Relief valve can not.
3. Safety valve is set at 3% above the working pressure
Relief valve is set at 10% above working pressure.
4. Safety valve is used in a vapour or steam system, whereas
Relief valve can be used in Fluid or compressed air system.
5.Safety valve releases the vapour or steam in Atmosphere,
but Relief valve releases the fluid in such a way that it
circulates in the system (suction line). But in case of
Compressed Air, it releases it to atmosphere.

Safety valve will operate in vapor or steam line. Relief
will operate both in liquid and vapor line. safety valve
will lift when the set pressure reaches and will sit after
it reaches the preset pressure. Mostly safety valves are
not hunting due to difference between lift and sit
pressures are more. But relief valve will lift to discharge
the excess pressure and sit back immediately. relief valves
are mostly hunting.

safety valve-pop up when the pressure reach setting pressure
of the valve. the difference with relief valve is the
condition after pop up. relief valve will vent out the
excessive pressure and will "sit" back to its original
position after the pressure reduced. meanwhile for safety
valve the sitting condition will not happen.

Relief valve applicable in the fluid system and safety valve
in the gaseous sytem.
mode of relief valve line is again connected to the
suction. But in the safety valve is just vent out there is no
connection to system.

Hi There,
Safety valves and Relief valves are two types of pressure control valves. Here are some basic differences between safety valves and relief valves.
Safety Valves: This term is used to describe relief device on a compressible fluid or gas filled vessel.
In these valves openings are sudden which triggers when pressure in line reached up to certain limit. These valves open fully.
Relief Valves: This term is used describe the relief device on a liquid filled vessel. In these valves opening of the valves is proportionate to increase in vessel pressure. So unlike safety valves opening is not sudden, rather gradual if pressure is increasing gradually.

relief valve maintains the system parameters s safety valve
used for if any parameters exits the safe vlaues

Answer / sunil
relief valve protects a system against excessive pressure
.....normally it set to desired pressure value by its spring
setting ........as the pressure exceeds its limit fluid is
diverted to tank through relief valve.......heat loses are
encountered due to throttling involved
safety valve is general category in which different valves
are included such pressure safety valve and temp safety valve
safety valves could be based on the setting of temp
