in india ac frequency is 50hz, but in foreign countries it
is 60hz,whwt is the reason

mainly for higher frequencies the transmission losses are
more. so for short distance transmission 60 hz is good as
the cost of generators and transformers will be less as they
are smaller bin size as compared to the ones in 5o hz
system. in india maybe to reduce the transmission losses 50
hz is used as generating stations are quite far away.....

earlier there were only two standards available. One is American standard ie 60 HZ and 110 V, second one is British standard ie 50 HZ and 230 V . In both cases advantages and Disadvantages are there. But India following British standard.

(1). in India we use the load's is induction load's, in transmission lines inductive ractance is
XL = 2*3.14*fr*L
in above case frequency increases loses also increase
(2). In our country weather conditions is not supported to the 60 hz frequency more losses is occurring

It is mostly a matter of convinence. you can produce power
at any frequency. but for the purpose of matching or
connectivity to other bigger networks, one is forced to
match the frequency. its therefore inevitable that you
produce power at a frequency your regional power grid is
on. conventionally your apparatus will mostly be rated for
the two frequencies 50/60Hz because they are the most common

first of all there is one thing that there is no power loss
due to reactive elements.so when capacitive or inductive
elements are used there is no any power losses there .
this 50 hz freq. is adopted to reduce the long transmission
losses......and also to reduce the voltage drop between
sending end voltage and receiving end voltage.

it depends on the machinery we use......
actually in india all the machines are inbulit for 50hz
frequency..
bt in foreign countries mostly machineries are built for 60
hz freq.

I think the climate has a major role to play while deciding
the frequency of transmission. In temperate climates you wont
prefer Over Head Transmission of power due to frequent
damages to power system equipments due to climate. So UG
Transmission through cables is preferred. Now in cables the
loss due to capacitive reactance(given by Xc =
1/(2*3.14*Freq*Cap) has to kept low.By increasing the
frequency we can reduce the loss due to reactance.May be
this could be one of the factors.

in india the gengrating stations are constructed according
to the distances but in the forgein countries the generating
stations are built according to the climate and the distance.
