I agree with Manya and adding that:-
1-HVDC transimission line have lower losses than Ac lines
for the same power capacity.
2-It is very easy to control the active power in the link
in HVDC systems.
3-HVDC system is the only way to make an exchange of power
between two different networks.
HVDC . . . High Voltage DC system

i am agree wiyh above all and adding that the ac
transmission is cheaper at a distance called breakdown
distance which is about 800-1000 km .above this distance of
transmission line dc is cheaper ..but it should be noted
that the initial cost of installation for dc is more than
ac.as rectifier station installation is costly.
thank you

Both transmission have there own advantages &
disadvantages..
However for Lond distance say 1000 Km distribution the DC
transmission is cheaper because of Line losses but in short
distance AC is cheaper because the Cost of AC DC coverter
Substation is very high.

dc transmission is cheaper above break down distance means
it is cheaper for long distance.
Is This Answer Correct ? | 7 Yes | 6 No |
ac transmission is cheaper though the losses in this are
high compared to dc
because dc cannot be stepped up directly and so the the
inverters and rectifiers comes into picture which has to
deal the high powers (in the order of mw).asn so the cost
is high

in my opinion AC transmission is cheaper compared to DC.
losses due to DC transmission are more compared to AC
transmission.
