Its braking the motor by reversing the current direction in the circuit, it can be done by interchanging the the two supply terminals, in case of DC and in AC three phase, it can be done by interchanging any two lines of the three lines.

how to select a capacitor, i mean we use 3.5 mico ferad cap for a celling fan,but how to select a cap for 1h.p motor,etc.........
