Answer / phani
If it is spiral , the electrical losses are less ( i don't
know exact losses but i can confirm that it is not for easy
to rolling)

The spiraling is done to transpose the three phase current
carrying conductors. This results in near zero net magnetic
field produced by the cable. This is required to minimise
electrical interference to other naerby cables.

Answer / kishor bankar
Under ground cable should be in spiral in shape
insteed of straight, because in staight position there is
formation of capacitance,so charge will develop on core,
due to this cable will be heated.
Also to avoid transposition effect cable should be
run in straight shape in underground.
