Active power is that power which is used for useful work
and reative power is used for producing magnetic flux for
rotating electrical machines.Explanation by simple example:-
if we want to go from Delhi to Mumbai by plane. If plane is
flying at 3 kms height (vertical height) it is reactive
power and horizontal distance(from Delhi to Mumbai)it is
called active power or useful power.

Reactive power is that component of power for which we
don't pay any money, but we put our own system to a
pressure.
It is like somebody climbing upstairs and coming down
without doing anything.
