Physics Class.
A split rind commutator is a special switch assembly on the
rotating coil shaft that allows the direction of the current
through the coil to be reversed every 180 degrees .

In dc motors we supply dc to the armature.The function of
the commutator is to make the direct current to reversal
current due to this reversal current motor torque is high.
