why free wheeling diode is connected across inductive load..

Answer / zakeer

Inductor is a magnatic field storage device after
disconnecting from the ckt it acts as a source up to it
discharge like capacitor.
at the time of chainging of signe in a transformar it
have -ve voltage more than supply voltage so the scr or
diode is conduction state up to the inductor is discharged
at this time we got -ve peak for discharging rapedly we
connect the free wheeling diode across the inductor.

why free wheeling diode is connected across inductive load..

Answer / s.narayanaswamy

WHEN A INDUCTIVE LOAD IS OPENED IT CREATES VERY HIGH BACK
WHICH AT TIME CAUSE THE FAILURE OF COMPONENTS.BY PROVIDING
FREE WHEELING DIODE BACK EMF WILL NOT BE MUCH AS THE
CURRENT CIRCUITWILL COMPLETE THRU INDUCTOR &DIODE &THE
VOLTAGE WILL NOT BE THERE IN OTHER CIRCUITS

why free wheeling diode is connected across inductive load..

Answer / karthick.v

flyback diode (sometimes called a snubber diode,
freewheeling diode, suppressor diode, or catch diode[1]) is
a diode used to eliminate flyback, the sudden voltage spike
seen across an inductive load when its supply voltage is
suddenly reduced or removed.

why free wheeling diode is connected across inductive load..

Answer / aditya vardhani

free wheeling diode acts when in the reverse biased state
of thyristor to maintain continous load cuurent & increase
the performence of the device

why free wheeling diode is connected across inductive load..

Answer / venkat parthasarathy

AS the supply cuts off the current will not become
zero, because there will be some energy stored in inductor. It
will create a reverse current. If the contacts seperate the
back emf will damage the cicuit components. Hence the free
wheeling diode is connected to provide a closed path for the
current until it vanishes.....
