what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / kitna baji

Capacitor - DC characteristics - A capacitor can store a DC
charge, but charge will decay, and this decay can be set
via a Time constant - add R in series. So in that respect
a capacitor can be used as a pseudo battery, albeit likely
that the charge will decay much sooner than a battery will,
and will not have the same capacity to supply I as a
battery. Can be used to hold up DC PSU's briefly in event
of brown-outs.

Capacitor - AC characteritics - passes DC signals so is
used in RC HP/LP filters, tuned ccts, supply decoupling etc.

Battery- no AC characteristics to speak of. DC
characteristics are it's able to supply a steady voltage
for a varying load current (within reason) for a specified
Ahrs. Takes longer to charge than a capacitor due to fact
is has greater capacity than a capacitor.

what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / srkec2007@gmail.com

CAPACITOR is passive device and battery is active device.
A five volt capacitor may or may not have energy. It means
if 5 volt capacitor is connected to circuit ,current flows
through it only if is charged.

unlike capacitor, 5 volt battery always supplies current
whenever connected in circuit

what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / reddy

CAPACITOR'S REACTANCE CHANGES WITH FREQUENCY WHEREAS A BATTERY'S RESISTANCE IS FIXED.

ALSO BATTERY STORES ENERGY AND IS EXPRESSED IN UNITS AS AMPERE-HOURS, WHERE AS CAPACITOR STORES CHARGE AND AND IS EXPRESSED IN UNITS AS MICRO / NANO FARADS.

what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / krishnendu

A 5V Battery is constant voltage source.Unlike capacitor it can be used for comparatively long time as a voltage source. And finally battery becomes useless because its internal resistance will increase and no current will be available from the battery but the voltage will remain same if measured.

In case of capacitor it only stores charge for a certain time period RC. Its voltage continuously decreases during discharge and finally reaches zero on completion of discharging.

what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / sajad ahmad mir, physics schol

5V Battery is that holding can in which chemical reaction produce +ve and -ve ions which develop potential difference (voltage) of 5V across the electrodes (different metal plates)inserted in chemical solution(electrolyte). Also this voltage minimize but slowly in a large span of time. That is why it is used in Radios, mobile phones, computers etc., where it should work for long periods.
However on the other hand a 5V capacitor is that holding can which develops 5V maximum potential difference across its ends separated by dielectric(polarizable material/space like air/Vacuum etc)that too in presence of electric field and quickly discharges in a very short span of time. That is why it is used in motors, electric fans, etc where high potential is ofcourse required when motor is about to start but for short span of time.
Let me conclude with these words that in battery chemical reaction takes place for the production of 5v or some potential difference across its electrodes and persists as long as chemical(electrolyte) will be exhausted. While in case of capacitors no chemical reaction takes place but due to coulomb electrostatic force charge separation (polarization) takes place for the production of 5V or some other potential but discharges it in a blink of time.

what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / spandana

A 5V capacitor means that the capacitor stores 5 volts tat
is while charging(is the basic operation of a capacitor),
the peak voltage that the capacitor can charge is 5V . and
after some time, discharges to 0V. This operation takes
place continuously with respect to time.
5V battery means that the voltage that the battery can
provide is 5V which is constant with respect to time.

what is the difference between 5v capacitor and 5v battery..

Answer / palash sahu

5v capacitor is nothing but it is charged to 5v during one cycle, now it will disscharg fully in very short time during another cycle. While 5v battery is a dc source which is also charged upto 5v but it will very slowly(it depends upon the load).
