ans : horizontal. because vertical joint can easily damage during earthquake or other lateral force like wind load. so compared to vertical joints, horizontal joint may be better.

Construction Joints should be minimum in execution. and the
location is to be decided carefully. Constr. Joint should be
at right angle to the span of member. e.g horizontal in
vertical columns and vertical in horizontal beams. Flexural
Strength of member due to construction joints depends upon
prepration of surface before making a joint, location of
