For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected.
will the generator generate only 50kw or 100kw. if it
generate 100kw what happens to rest of the 50kw. what
happens if we connect more than 100kw of load?

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / jaipal

If we connect only 50kw load to the 100kw generator, it
will generate the required amout i.e 50kw of power to
supply the load. This can be done by the controllers kept
at the generator.
If we connect the load of more than 100kw it will trip out

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / rvg.msceb

Generator is only an energy converter. The generator rating
100KW is specified is max. rating with pf. of 0.8( as per
manufacturs std.)
During the starting no DG set runs with full/partial load.
and it just generate the power required to meet the losses
only. Once after we connects load, it will generate power
required to meet the losses and output. The same equivalent
amount of mechanical power will be consumed from the prime
mover according to the efficiency of the system. So there
is no such question of 50KW energy wastage. Ultimately,
governer of prime mover plays an important role over DG
set.

if we connects more load say 200% of full load, for a
specified time according to the insulation and winding
temperature and prime mover output capacity, the DG can
function, say max. 2-3 minutes. Beyond that, DG will be
shutdown because of higher temp./or out of synchronism.

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / bhavesh and rajendra

If we connect 50 KW load to the 100 KW generator at that
time generator will generator 50 kw by restricting its
turbine fuel input and its efficiency will reduce

If we connect more than 100 Kw the frequency of generator
will go down and its power angle will shift to 90 deg and
its operating torque equal to pull out torque and generator
coms out of sysnchonism and it will trip

It wil genarate only 50kw,if it generates 100kw, we can
load 50kw.if it connected more than 100kw it will tripped
automaticaly.bcause its ferequency go low and also lead the
rated current value.222

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / gaurav naik

It will generate only 50kw i.e power consumed by load
At this condition mechanical power required to rorate
alternator will be half of that at 100KW
So speed may go high (rpm)
This is controlled by centifugal governors in Gensets

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / erharisheee51

First one thing understand clearly.Generator Generates only
voltage say 11kV for ex .. so it will convert to power its
depends on the load. so if the Load increases automatically
generator terminal voltage will go down & Frequency (speed)
.so you have to increase the excitation voltage to maintain
the terminal voltage normal , if the load is less u can
reduce the excitation no need of wasting external power
(excitation voltage) also.
so i guess if the load is low r high..there is no change in
generator generation it will generate the fixed voltage ..

and the Bill will maintained only usage not generation so i
if they used 50 kw they will charge for the same , remaining
50 kw u have saved.thats it..

Please leave a commnent for this :)

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / madhulathaoshapaka

Under steady state conditions, the (mechanical input - rotational losses) will be equal to the electrical power output. Hence, the generator will generate only 50 kW, even though its full capacity is 100kW.

For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. will the generator generate only 50kw or 1..

Answer / raviteja nowduru

for such type conditions speed governing system will come
into picture.so generator will generate only 50 k.but all
industries will generate the full load kw and they supply it
grid to which they are connected.

We have two Al.busbars each of size 125mm*10 mm connected in parallel. To increase the current rating ,can we connect third busbar of size 100mm*10mm in parallel to existing two busbars? In my opinion ,if we connect busbars of different sizes in parallel, then the busbar of lowest size will take much current. So this type of paralleling should be avoided .Am I correct?
