Why do you get a typical sound when the transformer is put into operation?..

Answer / sarmadahmed

The buzz sound often related with the transformer is due to the flow of Alternating Current through it, for half cycle all electrons are moving in one direction and for next half on opposite direction, electrons collide while changing the direction and constitute the buzz sound. If you provide a DC even fluctuating you won't get any sound.
Also since sound is energy, some energy is being lost in this.
