Dc series motor used in local train. Because local trains has to stop/start for small distances i mean will stop at all stations. So for this type of applications DC series and compound motors will serve the high starting torque at low speeds. For local trains high starting torque is more important to save time. If we use other motors train will pick up speed slowly, so time span will be more to pick up speed.
