Well today we have DOL direct on line starters for upto 100 hp and more too.
So Star Delta for 1 ph motor does not arise. Question itself is wrong. No practical question.

Star-Delta motor starting method is for reducing the
starting current by dividing line current with 3 square
that is considered in 3 phase only, and also most of single
phase motors are small motor having small starting current
so it is no point to reduce the starting current.

We use ungrounded DC system (220V/110V) for control and protection system in substations etc. Suppose we have long 2 core DC cables running from our DCDB in control room to the load (length of around 2 to 3 km). Do we need to protect these long DC cables from earth leakages or not? If yes how?

In a power conditoining unit (inverter) of a solar plant when we measure the d.c. current fed by different strings of solar plates to inverter, the current in the negative wire is less almost by 1 ampere to the current in its positive wire say current in positive wire 5 A , then current in negative wire of the same string is 4 A. Since the current entering should be equal to current leaving then why the current is noticably less in negative wire.
how do you choose the cable size as per amps rating & the voltage drop for the same.
