Before fitting rings, please insert rings into liner and check the clearance of liner gap by feeler gauge.

we have to check the id of liner through bore gauge if any worn out due to deviation creat. secondly inserting ring in to liner the ring gape and to check both the compression gape should be opposite to each other.And to check the first ring should in the upper position and tapper to out side and second ring accordingly.
