Active power is urseful power which does a useful work.
like motin. heat and light.and v measure in KW or MW
while reactive power is stored in circuit in form of
megnatic enery and electrostaric energy .its utilized in
magnitaziation of core of the machine. and v measure in
KVAR or MWAR
and sume of both is apparant power, and v measure in KVA or
MVA.
hope it will clear ur concept.

Active Power:As the name itself say, which actively participate in the circuit i.e it does the useful work.Example it get convert in tilight energy, heat energy, mechanical energy etc.
Reactive power:its the one which flows back to the generating station without doing any work or convertion. It doesn't do any useful work.
For example: I gave you 100 rs (apparent power) to bring rice from a shop. But you brought rice of only 80 rs,and returned 20 rs to me.
In the above example I assumed that total 100 rs will be converted in to rice, but only 80 rs is converted into rice and 20 rs returns to me,which is not desirable for me,i want rice of 100 rs but not of only 80 rs.
So,in the above example 100 is apparent power, 80 which converted into rice is active power and 2o which comes back is reactive power.Hope this may clear your doubt.

Capacitive energy only we called reactive power
Is This Answer Correct ? | 2 Yes | 2 No |
Active Power:Which is convert from electrical energy.it is
measure by W,KW,MW
Reactive power:It happens in circuit at the time of current
flowing and induced magnetising. It is measured by Kvar.
Apparent Power:It is not converted,It is transforms
electrical energy.(Voltage depends cu loss, current depends
Iron loss)It is measured by VA.
These are Three types of power.
