if we require a high pressure and low volume flow rate
than we can use positive displacement(because on that a
simple piston cylinder arrangement are taken so we seeing
less amount of leakage problem)and on centrifugal pump ,its
works on the principle of centrifugal action and its
application on that case if we required high volume flow
rate with less pressure

Centrifugal pump is a negative displacement pump. A Positive
displacement pump is a pump where there is no any( could be
very less) back flow of fluid.
But in the case of the centrifugal pump the back flow is
indeterminate, which is termed to be as NEGATIVE displacement
pump.

Centrifugal pumps are negative /dynamic/non positive type pump in which flow energy is first get converted into thev kinetic energy(velocity energy)and finally converted into the pressure energy these are flow oriented pumps whereas positie displacment pumps are pressure oriented as well as volue is directed converted into the pressure there is no leakage if assumed where as in centrifugal pump back flow is always there

positive displacement pump will transfer equal amount of fluid during each suction but centrifugal will not.

there are two types of pumps. positive and dynamic
displacement pump. in a pump if there is time gap between
suction and discharge that means there is no continous
flow of transfering liquid then the pump is posittive. and
if in a pump there is a continous tranfering of liquide
from suction to dischrage without any pulsating flow then
the pump is dynamic. A positive displacement pump is an
impuls machine , where as dynamic pumps are Reactin machine.

Suppose there are two vessels. One of diameter = D and other vessel dia = d. Suppose in vessel with dia D, water is filled upto height H and vessel with dia d is empty. Now both vessels are connected.Water will flow from D dia vesel to small d dia vessel.Suppose after equilibrium height of water in vessel with dia D is h. How much is h in terms of D, d,H etc?
