WE HAVE A LOAD OF 55KW MOTOR ITS VOLTS 380 3PH AND ITS
TAKING 100AMPS (ITS FULL LOAD IS 105AMPS)AND ITS CABLE IS
4CX50SQMM ,NOW ITS GETTING ABNORMAL HEATUP IN CABLE,PLZ
TELL WHY ITS HEAT-UP?(CABLE LENGTH IS 15 METERS ONLY)

Normally 70 sq mm Al cable or 50 sq mm copper cable is used
for 100 A current. As the length is only 15 m it may not
matter. If ,only the cable ends are getting heated
,connections may be checked. If entire length is getting
heated, voltage drop across the cables is to be measured. If
it is more than 2 % ,the cables have to be replaced for poor
quality of conductor material and insufficient sectional
area due to it.

It would be unfair for anyone to answer your question with
the given inputs. Please also mention the network voltage
(operating voltage) and type of cable, i.e., Al or Cu.

THE RERATING FACTOR MAY BE VERY LOW BECAUSE OF EXISTING
GROUP OF CABLES IN THE SAME TRENCH OR ANY OTHER REASON .YOU
HAVE TO KNOW THE CONDITIONS OF THR AREA WHERE THE CABLE IS
LAID.

If motor is connected in Y/D connection, then the cable size
is used OK, Check the both motor & panel side terminal
connection is loose . After this if you found cable heating
then check the voltage, current& POWER FACTOR. If necessary
put 25KVAR Capacitor Bank at motor side.

Your question shows that you have measured the current. If
this is correct at 100A and your cable is copper conductor,
there is no reason why the cable should be hot or even warm
no matter the installation method. The two possibilities are
the ambient temperature, the grouping of the cables or the
quality of the copper conductor used.

if you are used 50sq.mm alu.cable it may not sufficient to
carry the 100 amps current, for alu. cable 1A for 1Sq.mm is
a safe factor load.if your cable is copper it is enough to
carry your load.as per your information your cable length
is not a problem.

Always write capacity of motor in HP. your motor efficiancy
is 70%. with 100% efficiancy should be 145A with 380V.
please check the voltage & Current with load on motor
terminal. and use cable (in Sqmm) half of the running
current. I think your cable voltage drop should be 15 to
39V as per loadind.
