steam drum level transmitter calibration procedure? with
example?
Answer / saif chowdhury
Steam Drum Level Xmt Basically Known as a Wet leg Transmeter. when steam drum Actual level is zero The Transmitter output will be Maximum i.e 20MA.
Calibration procedure:
Normally the range will be very minor in negative MMH20 Or Milibar. Because LO Side tube hold higher pressure than HI Side.
1. Isolate the Both Tapping Point (by operator)
2. Ensure Do not drain the impules tube which is filled water. Because txr zero will shift which will affect proper reading. only for flushing pupose you can drain if the impuls line is pluged then you have to refill the water and make zero again.
3. To calibrate the transmitter close both isolation valve txr manifold.
4. Prepare the 5 steps Calibration Input range.
5. apply the pressure by the vacum pump.
6. After complete the calibration check both condensate pot if filled with water till the neck or water level is proportion the exact tapping point.
7. open isolation Txr Isolation valve from manifold check txr. reading is zero.
8 then proceed to commission the both tapping point block valve or Isolation Valve.
Hope this answer to your question. Good luck !

How can we say that accuracy of measurement increases by using 3 or 4 wire RTD? because for example: If resistance of RTD element is say r ohms and Resistance of the cable from transmitter to RTD is R ohms And if 4 wire RTD is used, ____._____________________ R ohms | |_____._____________________ R ohms / \ / r ohms \ \ | |______.__________________ R Ohms | |_______._________________ R ohms Then the actual resistance measured will be: Total = r + R/2 + R/2 = r +R Ohms Note: r+R instead of r ohms. hence error

In split range control, we will control 2 outputs with time interval. Eg :(with 4-20 ma signal, for 4-12 ma we are operating one control instrument like valve & for 12-20ma we are operating other control instrumet (other valve). If we get a signal of 15ma to first instrument (Valve 1), what will happened to the first valve, and if we get signal above 20 ma to 2 valve what will happened ?
