Why slip-ring and brushes are not required in squirrel cage induction motor?..

Answer / sharath

in slip-ring motors brushes are required to short the rotor
winding with the help of resistance where as in squirrel
cage rotor winding are internally shorted with end-rings so
they dnot required brushes.

Why slip-ring and brushes are not required in squirrel cage induction motor?..

Answer / raul

there are basically two purposes for slip rings n brushes
in slip ring rotor......firstly they r used to short ckt
the rotor windings while in the squirel cage motors the
rotors winding r in-built short ckted by d heavy end
rings..........secondly they r used for speed control of
the motor by connecting external resistors wid the help of
slip ring n associated brushes.......

Why slip-ring and brushes are not required in squirrel cage induction motor?..

Answer / mohamed idris

slip and brushes are not used in squrriel cage induction...
bec rotor windings are look like a cage... therefore
windings are short circuted by end ring.... therfore no need
to use slip and brushes in squrriel cage motor
