kw is actual power.
kva is apprent power.
The main diffrence b/w these two is power factor,
kw = kva * p.f
Normaly p.f cant be calculated before in any AC system, so
that it measured in kva.
Same as in case of t/f its also have rating in kva (not in kw)

Answer / vinod
KW is the actual converted power from the used electrical
power.
KVA is the apparant power ie. the product of voltage and
current.in the presence of power factor the KVA value limit
the use of power equipments. for low pf the machine will be
over loaded for rated out put KW.

Answer / vinoth
simple when a motor having some ratings ex: 7.5 kw motor
used the same power from the incomer.the volt, current rating
not changed. but transformer having kva rating because the
volt range constant and the current range is default so
thats only we use kva rating in tr and kw in motors.
