Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / pradeep kumar singh

Because Diesel Engines need to have more compression ratio
than petrol Engines, for that it need to have more
metellurgy. That is why, it is more expensive than petrol
Engine.

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / venkatesan

well diesel engine compression ratio was high (1:22) when
comparing petrol engine (1:14). so design of cylinder head,
piston and crank are heavier( material property should be
different and withstand heavy vibration and heat and etc,..
) then petrol engine design, these are all the reason i think,

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / amish patel

well Besically average of vehical running with diesel
engine is higher then the petrol engine but more
maintainance is required in diesel engine and because of
higher density differance in both we need separate cleaning
devices in diesel engine so ....

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / rajneesh patyal

In Diesel engine fuel is distributed through cylinders by means of Fuel Injection Pump(most costly part of diesel engine). And also due to higher compression ratio, the frequency of vibrations induced in engine cause it to fail rapidly.
Thus due to higher maintainance and servicing costs the expenses go higher..

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / lokesh nayak

In diesel engines weight to power ratio is more than petrol engines . this means to produce the same power the weight of a diesel engine must be much more than a petrol engine. thus diesel engines are more heavy and robust in design than petrol engines and hence are more expensive. nothin to do with cost of petrol or diesel.

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / natesan

Multi Cylinder Diesel Engine needs FIP for precise metering
of fuel at right timing which is costly Add-on when compared
to Petrol wherein the fuel is mixed in carburator and
Injection Timing is taken care by relatively cheap
Electrical parts like Spark Plugs and Distributors...

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / asif iqbal

deisel engines are generally used in heavy duty machine requiring more power to overcome the load ,and more cylinders for fuel combustion...the power generated by deisel engine is more compared to petrol engine because of cetane no of fuel used.. thus as more power generation requires more fuel.thus it is not economical

Why Diesel Engines are expensive than petrol Engines? Tell the economics of both the engines?..

Answer / navith

the mechanisam of diesel engine is to diffcult to
manufacture when compare to petrol engine...thats y diesel
engine are expensive.ofcourse i accept that the cost of
diesel is lesser than petrol.but this a second thing.
