yes, because scr can only be turn on by applying gate pulses
but it cannot be turnoff by the same.

yes, only triggering can be done through gate but commutation cant be done through gate,gate loses control after the scr turns on ...

NO, the firing angle of the SCR can be controlled from 0 to 360 degrees. only the operation of the SCR changes. It acts as a phase controlled rectifier from 0 to 180 degrees and as an inverter from 180 to 360 degrees.
