1) why bent up are provided at l/4 or l/5 distance not at
l/8or l/10? 2) why extras are provided in beams at top and
why upto 0.3l distance max.? 3) why chairs are provided in
two way slab?
Answer / rajesh erukulla
1.Bentup is given in slabs to withstand the variable loads acting on the slab. And L/4 & L/5 are the perfect zones to bentup. L/8 or L/10 are very least lengths which cannot overcome the loads.
2.In beams especially at column beam junction area extra tops are given bcz it is shear zone and has to take more loads.
3. In two way slabs or any other structures chairs are used to maintain thickness of slabs.
