When induction motor is started,we see all other electrial
appliances connected on the same supply are dimmed out for
some moment why?

Answer / kuruvilla chacko
induction motor is a reactive power hogger.since reactive
power is connected with voltage,by absorbing huge amt of
reactive power,it depletes the voltage provided to other
machines such as fans, mixers etc...thus there is dimming.this
can be rectified by using capacitor banks.

Answer / swarnansu
since the inductive loads are having lagging p.f. so it
draws a huge reactive power which leads to reduce the p.f of
the supply voltage which is also connected to all other
appliances, which leads to dimming out of supply for some time.

armature is that part in which current is induced since in dc motor we supply current to the conductor so why we call it armature?
A 3-phase IM is supplied from 50 Hz system. It runs at speed of 1440 rpm and slip equal to 4 %. Calculate rotor frequency. A 50 Hz B 0 Hz C 4 Hz D 6 Hz
Practical condition in 400KV Sub station:- Breaker(open) , isolator(open), Earthing (close) at both end e.g A & B. Now Open A Stn Earthing than Open B stn Earthing (Which have a 50MVA reactor) , AND suddenly show R,Y,B phase 704KV,573KV,118KV respectively. Que is without closing of breaker how it is possible.???? How can we find out earth leakage,(shock)in side the house?.. (with out ELCB)
we all know that corona is nothing but ionization of air around the conductor and there by allowing current to pass through ionized air.but we are not getting any short circuit in between the respective phases though the air turned as a conductive media between them??
