What will happen if a dc source is given to a tubelight. Will it work or wont it work....

Electrical Engineering 1463

Usually we say that capacitors block dc and allow ac. if a capacitior is connect in series with a resistance.. will current pass through the capacitior.... if i doesn't pass..is it due to offering of infinite resistance by capacitor there by acting as a open....

Question { HCL, 8441 }

what is modem

Answer

Basically we use digital signals in computer. But we use analog type of communication through wires .So our digital signal needs to be converted into analog signals. This is achieved through the usage of modem . Modem stands for MOdulator DEModulator . Its acts as a modulator thereby converting our digital signals into analog signals.These analog signals can be sent through phone line. In the receiving end the analog signals are again converted into digital signals.

Digital signals have two states { logic 0 and logic 1 }

Question { HCL, 33157 }

WHAT WILL BE THE OUTPUT OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTION
void main()
{
int x=4,y=3,z;
z=x-- -y;
printf("%d%d%d",x,y,z);
}

Answer

The output will be 331
this is so because while assigning x -y is assinged to z..
so z=4-3=1
then the value of x will be decremented { post decrement }
now the value of x will be 4-1 = 3
so while printing
x = 3
y = 3{no change}
z= 1

Question { 11291 }

What is capacitor and its function?

Answer

capacitor is a charge storage deivice... the simplest
capacitor is fabricated by two conducting metal plates
seperated by a dielectric..
it ll store charges...
in capacitor in dc source.. as it ll hav a steady peak
current .. the capacitor ll charge completely
so tat it offers infinite resistance...
but in ac circuit as the signal is pulsating one..
the capacitor doesnt gets fully charged so....
it ll conduct..

Question { 28574 }

#include
void main()
{
int i=1;
printf("%d%d%d",i++,++i,i);
}

Answer

Basically in printf the values are calcualted from right to left...and the output is displayed from left to right.
so the output will be
221
first one will be printed
then one will be incremented by one and made as two..since it is a pre increment and will be printed..
then the value now is 2..so it will be printed then it will be incremented { post increment }..

good question..
a typical example for working of Printf

Question { 4924 }

what is the use of resister in any circuit?

Answer

Resistor is something which resists the follow of current. Basically in a easier way it can be explained as it resists the flow of current. But if we look into it a bit deeper.The resistance property can be attributed to the atomic arrangement and its vibrations. The lattice vibrates and due to these lattice vibrations the follow of electrons are hindered and the current flow is affected. This property is know as resistance. In a circuit resistance can be used to reduce the current flow.

Question { 6146 }

What is the difference in usage between TRIAC and SCR ..

Answer

Triac is nothing but triode ac switch..
In triac's output two wave forms will be obtained for both positive and negative half cycles .
This two are not exactly equal leading to harmonics.
In high power circuits the harmonics are high.
High harmonics will lead to less efficiency of the circuit so in high power circuits TRIAC can be replaced by Scr .
Scr can be used in motor control , phase control , in chargers , regulated power supplies and switches..
They are used mostly in control circuits..
Triac on the other hand cand can be used as a ac switch ..
control circuits[illumination and temperature control] ... AC switches .. and light dimmers...
