why zener is not used in rectifier insted of diode

Answer / chaitanya
it is right that zener diode is used in reversed
biased, but in forward bias it act same as normal diode.
if u want to use it in rectifier it can be used provided
that its value shud be gr8er than PIV(there will be no
reverse breakdown).
it is not used becoz of cost (normal diode-50Ps. zener
-frm Rs.2 onwards depends on value)

Because If reverse voltage applied across the Zener
increases above the Zener voltage It will start conducting
high current. But In rectifier it is required to block the
input in reverse bias condition.
In a rectifier circuit it is necessary that thetwo diodes
should turn off when the other two conduct.

Answer / radha bhavani chirlanki
zener diode shows different properties for both reverse bias condition and in forward bias condition. That will give two different output rectified graph as compared to the case of ordinary diode.

Answer / sanuj chopra
zener diode shows different properties for both in reverse
bias condition and in forward bias condition.that will give
two different output rectified graph as compared to the
case of ordinary diode.Hence we never use zener diode in
rectifiers.
