Petty cash book is a book of origina entry that is used to record minor business transactions that recure on daily basis like sundries expenses,travelling expenses while a cash book is a specialise d ledger that comprises of cash and bank accounts as well including discounts, both allowed and received accounts.

Petty cash book record small amount daily cash expenses like cash paid for tea, stamp, paper pin, ink ball point etc... is sub part of main cash book its use to reduce entries in main cash book, which is not updated on daily bases.
