How does one do Ad-hoc Testing?

Hi,
In the Ad Hoc testing no planing and documentation is being
done, no formal test case is being prepared for this. Tester
tries to break the system by using negative approach. Monkey
testing is the subset of this.
Plz correct me if i am wrong.....

Ad-hoc Testing:it is the free hand testing...,testing
carried out informally..

Testing the application randomly is called as a monkey
testing.
it depends on tester's imagination and creativity.here,we
don't have requirements.we,are testing adhocly(Randomly).
here,Test Engineer should think as a customer and test the
application,keeping himself as a customer and he should not
get any defects

i think testing in which one will perform abnormal actions
on the application intentionally to check stability of
application is Monkey testing.
adhoc testing is a testing in which one will perform
testing on their own style after understanding the
requirments clearly..most of the companies are going for
adhoc testing only.
