Suppose a steel bar of cross sectional area A is subjected
to load P at one end and 2P at the other end ,what will be
the induced stress in the bar?

As the bar is subjected to unequal loading at the ends ,bar will pull aside and acceleration will be towards the net force acting ( 2P - P = p),effect p is acting on one side due to that the bar is accelerating another p is resisting the acceleration,so stress is resisting force by area of cross section,answer is P/A

We always take the mean load like if load p acting on both
sides then stress=p/a
and here 1.5p/a
