fm is used for audio and am is used for video we cannot
change that.. reason behind that is for example voice of
human being differ from person to person ...so that we need
tecnology with constant amplitude and variable frequency tha
is principle of fm...
am is used for video because picture size is decided using
frames and number of scannig lines...for example there are
different size of tv like 21 inch,10 inch...in 10 inch tv we
are seeing the same picture but in small size..so that we
need technology with variable amplitude and constant
frequency that is am...
best of luck..

One reason to use am for video and fm for sound is noise. As noise signals are voltages that are added in the information signal, they can change amplitude but cannot change the frequency of the signal. In fm if noise is added, it doesn't change the data since the information is contained in frequency variation. this ensure a good quality of audio signal, when demodulated.
Another important reason is the bandwidth requirement. Video signals have much higher b/w than audio signals. Fm cannot provide this much b/w to signal. Thus AM is suitable for video signal.

AM can also be used for audio but since AM is more noisey
than FM, so FM is generaly used for audio.but in video
transmission, noise doesn't have much impact on video, also
cost implication is justified, since FM transmission is
costlier than AM transmission.
