what is solvent and what is the use of it in organic synthesis.how you select a solvent for a part..

Answer / m. k. atal

solvent is media which allows the reactants(solutes) to
dissolve in it to form homogeneous solution. Solvent
provide a media for reactants to move freely without any
inturruption by dissolving them and it makes collision of
reactants easy and hence product formation gets ease by its
supporting effect.
The best solvent is one which can disssolve the reactants
to large extent and form homogeneous solution of low
viscosity.A good solvent is one than does not react with
solute molecules.

what is solvent and what is the use of it in organic synthesis.how you select a solvent for a part..

Answer / naveen gutta

Most of the organic reaction can be performed in liquid state only for this purpose we've to dissolve the our reactants in suitable solvent(It may or may not involve in the reaction).Even some reagents requires specific solvents to carry out their function (Ex: LDA requires THF at -76°C).The selection solvent will depend on the reaction and reaction condition which we are going to perform and the solvents can be recovered back through distilation or some other techniques.

Answer / karunakarreddy.jakka

a solvent is nothing ,which is used to dissolve the our
reaction compounds by which it helps to interact our added
reagent and makes the reaction easily.
and hte solvent we used should be inert to the our reactive
masses.
