What is the difference between star and snowflake schemas?

What is the difference between star and snowflake schemas?..

Answer / Hina Jain

The main difference between a Star Schema and a Snowflake Schema lies in their normalization level. A Star Schema is less normalized, with fact tables at the center connected to dimension tables through foreign keys. Each dimension table contains all possible values for its attributes. On the other hand, a Snowflake Schema is more normalized, where dimension tables are further sub-divided into smaller tables, reducing data redundancy.
