Answer / guest
Catalytic agent or a catalyst is a substance which the rate
of reaction without itself permanently changed. This process
of changing the rate of chemical reaction by the catalyst is
common as catalysis
Classification of catalysis
1.Positive catalysis
2.Negative catalysis
3.Auto-catalysis
4.Induced Catalysis
(1)Positive catalysis:-A positive catalyst is that which
increases the rate of reaction while this process is known
as positive catalysis
(2)Negative catalysis:-A negative catalyst is that which
retards the rate of chemical reaction and this process is
known as negative catalysis
(3)Auto-catalysis:-When one of the products of foreign acts
as a catalyst for that reaction. This is known as Auto-catalysis
(4)Induced catalysis:-The phenomenin in which one reaction
induces another reaction is known as induced catalysis

Answer / mp
Catalysts are the substances/ compounds which accelerates or
suppress the rate of chemical reaction without undergoing
permanent changes.
Two types of catalysts are there
(1) homogeneous catalysts, i.e. soluble in reaction medium
(2) heterogeneous catalyst i.e. insoluble in reaction medium
