Banks in India were nationalized in three phases: 1969 (Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Bank of India, and Indian Bank), 1980 (Punjab National Bank, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, UCO Bank, United Bank of India, Allahabad Bank, and Oriental Bank of Commerce) and 1984 (Vijaya Bank, Dena Bank, and Andhra Bank).
