How a balanced equation can be used to find the mass or
volume of an unknown quantity in a stoichiometry?
Answer / Anurag Bhardwaj
A balanced equation shows the relationship between reactants and products in a chemical reaction. To calculate the mass or volume of an unknown quantity, you need to know its coefficient in the balanced equation, its molar mass (for mass calculations), and Avogadro's number (for volume calculations). For example, if you have 2 mol of hydrogen (H2) according to a reaction where H2 + O2 --> H2O, you can calculate the mass or volume of oxygen required by multiplying the molar ratio of oxygen in the balanced equation by the number of moles of hydrogen.
