SI stands for spark ignition .which is generally happened in gasoline(petrol engine).
CI(compression ignition).which generally happened in heavy engine.due to which differ in compression ratio.

simply SI engines are works on otto cycle (during suction stroke Air-Fuel mixture enters into the combustion chamber )
CI engines are works on diesel cycle(during suction stroke only Air enters into the combustion chamber as a working fluid)
