benzoic acid is a weaker than para nitro benzoic acid ..

Answer / m.murali

These two compounds are carboxylic acids. In general the acid strength of carboxylic acids are depends upon stability of
it's carboxylate anion.
In para nitro benzoic acid, nitro group(-I group) is attached
in para position. It with draws electrons from the benzene
ring and stabilized by resonance.
But benzoic acid do not have any substituted group and it's
benzoate anion is less stable than para nitro benzoic acid.
so, para nitro benzoic acid is strong acid than the benzoic
acid.

in p-nitrobenzoic acid due to -I effect of nitro group hydrogen present in acia become more elecronegative and easily remove as proton and act like strong acid

benzoic acid is a weaker than para nitro benzoic acid ..

Answer / imamul

p.nitro benzoic acid is more acidic than benzoic acid, because in case of p. nitro benzoic acid nitro group are -i effect operating group which withdraw electron toward itself and than benzene ring stabilises through resonance and therefore carboxylic acid group easily releases H+ ion than benzoic acid but in case of Benzoic acid it have no any effect operating group therefore it's less release of H+ion. And as we know that which compound fastly release H+ ion than those compound are more acidic
Hence above the disscution we can say that p.nitro benzoic acid is more acidic than benzoic acid.

benzoic acid is a weaker than para nitro benzoic acid ..

Answer / ramakrishna s

Here the no.of carbons between two functional groups are more than 4 carbons. so Inductive effect is not the criteria to tell the acidity. But by the presence of withdrawing group at more denser position, later one is more acidic than the previous
