Organic chemistry is the study of compounds which have at
least one carbon-hydrogen bond.
So carbon monoxide, dioxide and carbon disulphide are
considered inorganic. The definition does not work for
mellitic anhydride, C12O9, which most people would consider
as organic.
The main point though is that by M.Sc. level you should
realise that organic/inorganic/physical etc divisions in
chemistry are only useful in a general sense,
and 'definitions' are pretty pointless.
