Answer / kondababu
usually ac i/p is changing in the range between 190v-250v,
but actually our devices are designed in such a way that to
allow only constant flow, because of this variation you will
not get desired results, some times device may burn. so we
need to provide constant flow. voltage regulator , regulates
the flow and allows constant flow. zener diode is used as a
regulator.

The Main Purpose of Voltage Regulator is to maintain
constant voltage lavel.it mey use electromacanical or
electronic componant. The design of voltage regulateo is
also used one or more AC or DC voltage. In an electric
power distribution system, voltage regulators may be
installed at a substation or along distribution lines so
that all customers receive steady voltage independent of
how much power is drawn from the line.
