what is back trip and re-trip in protection schemes? why these two? define me the exact function of..

Answer / santosh kawade

Backup trip and re-trip are functions use for high voltage
overhead transmission line feeders.

In this system normally fault occurs are very short
durations like fault due to birds or due to fall of some
objects on transmission lines. In this case transmission
line trips due to fault but again breaker auto close after
certain duration (approx. 500 to 1000 milliseconds). But if
fault persist it again trips and will not close
automatically at second time.
