SCR is semi-controlled device i.e gate can only turn on it
but it cant turn off (commutation circuits are required for
this).
IGBT can be turn on & turn off by gate signal.

IGBT means insulated gate bipolar transistor and SCR means
silicon controlled rectifier .in IGBT has combination of
BJT and FET.SCR is the thyristor family like DIAC
Is This Answer Correct ? | 36 Yes | 14 No |
Answer / akash joshi
IGBT has 2 insulated silicon layers where as SCR has only
one insulative layer. IGBT has source, drain and gate as
terminals where as SCR is named differently.
