By measuring penetration of the casing pipe in to the
soil , popularly known as "set"while driving downward with
the impact of a free falling hammer or by means of some
other devices with a specific amount of energy. The hard
stratum can be ensured only when a predtermined specified
value of penetration with repect to specified transmitted
energy over the casing tube is achived

while driving a bore in soil with auger the soil which
comes from auger is tested at evry time.if it is like a
rock the sample is tested and find out how much strength is
having.
if it is enough to bear the up coming weight, pile should
be casted, or go for further driving.
